Imran Nazir – List of Cricketers from Gujranwala

List of Cricketers from Gujranwala includes the Imran Nazir. Imran Nazir is a erstwhile cricketer of Pakistan. He played for the Pakistan national cricket team in the era of 1999 to 2012. Imran is acknowledged as opening batter. He is known as the Right-handed batter and Right-arm off spinner bowler.

Imran was born 16 December 1981 in Gujranwala. He is son of Nazeer Ahmed. His brother is Mushtaq Nazir who is also a former cricketer. His sister name is Maha Nazir. In 2009 he is married to Amber Hafeez. Imran completed his bachelor’s degree in education.

Cricket Career

In 1999 he made his first appearance in Test cricket match against Sri Lanka at Lahore. Along it he also made debut in One Day International at Visakhapatnam in India. Although he played both in test and one day International matches but he only able to secured his spot in the Pakistan squad in test matches. In 1999 – 2002 he played 8 test matches for Pakistan and secured his position in squad till 2002.

Imran also established himself in the realm of first-class cricket. In February 2007 , he restore his position to national team in second One Day International against South Africa. He was named in Pakistan’s squad for the 2007 World Cup.

Imran Nazir cricketer

In 2007 world cup he also set the record. During last match of 2007 World Cup he made second highest score of Pakistani cricket and the eighth highest score by any batter in World Cup history. Along with it his 8 sixes correspond to the World Cup record of Australian batter Ricky Ponting. From now onwards he became member of Pakistan’s Twenty20 squads.

He also has the career at the domestic level. Nazir signed for the Indian Cricket League and played for the Lahore Badshahs in 2008. His chances looked slim in again playing with Pakistan, after he signed to a Indian Cricket League. Later he got the chance when Pakistani court suspended a ban on Indian Cricket League players. After this he played two National T20 cups. He was also selected as member of Pakistani squad for six  tournament in 2010 for Hong Kong. Imran has also played for Dhaka Dynamites in Bangladesh. Later he played for  Dhaka Gladiators in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He has played for Lahore Qalandars in 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy.

Saad Bin Zafar

Saad Bin Zafar is a Pakistani-Canadian international cricketer. He was born 10 November 1986 in Gujranwala. He represents the Canada in International cricket. Saad is also currently captain of men’s cricket team. He is considers as all rounder player. He is left-handed batter and slow-left arm orthodox bowler.

Cricket Career

In June 2008 Saad started his career in International Cricket .His career began when he was selected in Canada’s Squad for the 2007–08 ICC Intercontinental Cup. Against Bermuda he debut his International career on 4 July 2008. Again he was named in Canada’s squad for the 2010 Quadrangular Twenty20 Series in Sri Lanka in December 2009. He made his T20 debut t against UAE in January 2010, when he was selected in Canada’s squad for the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

Saad bin zafar Pakistani cricketer

He again made a comeback in International cricket by selected in Canada’s squad for the 2015 ICC Americas Twenty20 Division One in April 2015. Tournament hosted by Scotland and Ireland in which Saad was selected as member of Canadian squad in June 2015. In 2017, he was selected in Canada’s squad for the 2017 ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament in Uganda.

Later he was selected for the  ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament in Namibia in 2018. In August 2018 , he was selected for the 2018–19 ICC World Twenty20 Americas Qualifier tournament in Morrisville, North Carolina.  In Namibia he was again selected for the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two in April 2019. He was also named in Canada’s team for the Regional Finals of the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier tournament.

Saad made his debut in Twenty20 International (T20I) for Canada against the Cayman Islands on 18 August 2019. He became most economical bowler for Canada with the economy rate of 3.50 from 5 matches in 2019 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament in September 2019. He was selected for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier tournament in Antigua in October 2021.

Career as Captain

He was appointed as Captain in July 2022. He became the captain of Canada’s team against Nepal’s tour of Canada. This tour is scheduled for Nepal’s preparation of 2022 Scotland Tri-Nation Series. Again in October 2022, he was selected as the captain of Canada’s Squad for the 2022 Desert Cup T20I Series . Along with Dessert cup series there was also a bilateral 50-over-a-side three-match series against Oman. These all are to made prepare for the final event of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League.

He also leads as Captain of Canada’s team for the 2022 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament. Saad was again appointed as captain in February 2023 for Canada’s tour of Sri Lanka which consists of four One Day matches against Sri Lanka Development team for the preparation of 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off.

He was named as the captain for Canada’s tour of Hong Kong which consist of One Day series against Hong Kong and Malaysia in January 2024. In February 2024 ,he leads the Canada’s squad for Canada’s tour of Nepal which consist of three One Day International (ODI) matches. He also leads the team for 2024 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series (round 2). Although he has a successful tenure of Captaincy and still goes on.

Hasan Ali

Hasan Ali is a Pakistani cricketer. He made his debut for Sialkot in October 2013. In August2016, he made his international debut for Pakistan in a One Day International (ODI) match. Along with it he was also selected in Pakistan’s squad for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Later he known as the quickest bowler for Pakistan to take 50 wickets in ODIs. He is a right hander batter and Right-arm medium-fast bowler.

Hassan Ali was born on 2 July 1994 in Ladhe Wala Waraich, Gujranwala. He is son of Abdul Aziz Mahli. He played cricket from his childhood due to encouragement of his family. Hassan married to Shamia Arzoo in 20 August 2019. His childhood coaches and mentors are two local cricketers including Ata-ur-Rehman and  Ansar Zafar Rathore. He gained at Rathore’s Young Combine Star Club in Gujranwala. He is including in the List of Cricketers from Gujranwala.

Cricket Career

Hasan was added to Pakistan’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against England and Ireland in 2016. He made his ODI debut for Pakistan against Ireland on 18 August 2016 . Later he also made his test debut on 10 May 2017 against West Indies. furthermore Hasan made his Twenty20 International debut for Pakistan against England on 7 September 2016.

In addition to it he was selected to Pakistan’s Test squad for their series against the West Indies. Again he was selected for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. He also became the arising name in Pakistan Cricket Board’s Emerging Player of the Year in 2017 after his performance in ODI. In April 2019, he is selected in Pakistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Hasan Ali Pakistani Cricketer

Ali suffered from a back injury which was immediately followed by a rib fracture taking him out of the game for many weeks in September 2019. Later he regain his fitness in late 2020. He again comeback in cricket when he was recalled to Pakistan’s Test squad for their home series against South Africa in January 2021. In September 2021, he was selected for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed their 15-player squad for the upcoming 2023 World Cup to be held in India. PCB also included Hasan Ali for World Cup. He played in World Cup 2023 replacing Naseem Shah. Naseem Shah was ruled out from World Cup 2023 due to injury. Hasan Ali also in the List of Cricketers from Gujranwala.
